Start off with the inbuilt apps - Mail for mail, iCal etc - switch after giving them some time, if you don't like em I'd make time to just go through all the system preference panes to see what can be tweaked and make it as you wish - its amazing how often a little annoyance can be tweaked in a configuration somewhere. Portable Mac? You may wish to turn on FileVault disc encryption If you have a iPod turn on iCloud to share calendar events, contacts and whatnot with it. Get an external drive and set up Time Machine (does hourly backups without you even noticing) Windows Migration assistant can help you transfer data and indeed accounts to the Mac if you want. Have a look at this to get yourself acquainted, the videos are really rather good. The two systems work somewhat differently, but both have their own internal logic* - give the new system some time. You're going to find the switch a bit odd at first, so my first piece of advice would be give the vanilla Mac experience about a month before you start downloading doodads and utilities to try and make it work more like Windows.
